Why it matters

The room is half as bright as it used to be.

You stop noticing it after a while. Then one sunny morning you walk into the conservatory and realise the glass is letting through half the light it used to.

Conservatory roofs collect algae, lichen, and leaf debris faster than anywhere else on the house. They’re angled, so water sits. They’re usually the lowest roof on the property, so leaves drop on them. And they face the sky, so green biofilm forms on the surface within a year or two of being cleaned.

Left long enough, it dims the room, stains the bars, blocks the gutters around the edge, and starts to creep under the flashing. Cleaning it once a year brings the room back to full brightness and stops the bigger jobs starting.

How we clean

Soft-wash from the ground. Never on the roof.

Frog Window Cleaning cleans glass and polycarbonate conservatory roofs for homes across Hailsham and East Sussex. Every clean is done from the ground using a soft-wash chemical, a soft brush on a telescopic pole, and a pure-water rinse. Nothing touches the roof except the brush and the water.

Pricing is fixed by conservatory size (small, medium, large). Existing regular window cleaning customers get a discount when a roof clean is added to a visit.

Why ground-based matters

Three reasons we don't walk on conservatory roofs

No Weight on the Roof

Walking on a conservatory roof is risky. Polycarbonate sheets aren’t designed to take a person’s weight. Even glass roofs have specific load points, and standing on the wrong bit of glazing can crack a panel or stress a seal. Our telescopic pole reaches across the full roof from the ground.

No Damage to Frame or Flashing

Ladders leaned against conservatory frames are a classic way to bend the guttering or pop a piece of flashing. We don’t lean anything on it. The pole holds itself, and pure water rinses down the roof under gravity.

Safe on Polycarbonate

Polycarbonate scratches easily and reacts badly to strong chemicals. We use a soft-wash product and a soft brush specifically because polycarbonate doesn’t tolerate aggressive scrubbing or jet washing. Glass tolerates a slightly firmer brush, but we don’t use anything abrasive on either.

What customers say about our conservatory roof cleaning

[TESTIMONIAL: ideally mentioning light. Example: 'Our conservatory had gone so green we'd stopped using it. Frog cleaned the roof in a morning and the room is bright again. Worth every penny.']

[Linda, Horam]

[TESTIMONIAL: ideally mentioning polycarbonate. Example: 'I was nervous about having our polycarbonate roof cleaned because the last company scratched it. Frog used a soft pole from the ground. No scratches, proper clean.']

[Steve, Pevensey]

A green polycarbonate roof in Horam, back in the family.

The family had stopped using their conservatory because the polycarbonate had gone so green the room felt like a cave. Previous pressure-washing attempts had left visible scratches on the panels. We soft-washed the full roof from the ground, cleared the conservatory gutter at the same time, and the room is now bright enough to use as a second living room again.

What's included in a conservatory roof clean

Every accessible panel. Glass or polycarbonate, soft-washed, brushed, and rinsed.

Glazing bars and visible ridge. Aluminium or uPVC bars cleaned at the same time. Stubborn staining usually lifts with a little dwell time.

The conservatory gutter. The narrow gutter running around the outside of the roof is cleared of leaves, algae, and debris. No point cleaning the roof and leaving a blocked gutter.

The house wall where the conservatory joins. Where the roof meets the house, algae and flashing grime get cleaned where we can reach safely, without interfering with the seal.

Conservatory windows and frames if you’re booking a one-off (if you’re already a regular window cleaning customer, the windows are already part of your round).

A walk-around at the end. We show you the result and flag anything close up that didn’t look right from a distance.

Why pick us

Why choose Frog for conservatory roof cleaning?

Fixed prices by size. Small, medium, large. The booking form walks you through which size yours is. No quotes, no surprises.

We don’t climb on the roof. If a cleaner tells you they’re going to walk on your conservatory, ask them to leave. Our system is ground-based. Nothing goes on the roof except the brush head and pure water.

We clean the gutter around the conservatory at the same time. A dirty conservatory roof usually has a blocked conservatory gutter too. We do both.

We’re already in the area. Because we run regular window cleaning rounds, your conservatory clean usually slots into a nearby round.

Frequently asked questions about conservatory roof cleaning

How much does conservatory roof cleaning cost?

Pricing is fixed by conservatory size (small, medium, large). A small conservatory starts at a set fixed price, medium and large are priced accordingly. See the pricing page for the current figures.

How often should a conservatory roof be cleaned?

Once a year is the usual recommendation in East Sussex. Conservatories in sheltered spots, near trees, or with a flat-ish pitch often benefit from a clean every six to eight months. Steeper roofs in open positions can sometimes go 18 months.

Can you clean both glass and polycarbonate roofs?

Yes. The method is the same: soft-wash product, soft brush, pure-water rinse, all from the ground. Polycarbonate needs a softer touch, which our system is set up for.

Do you walk on my conservatory roof?

Never. The whole clean is done from the ground using telescopic poles. Walking on conservatory glazing, especially polycarbonate, is how roofs get broken.

Will water get inside my conservatory?

No. We use controlled flow from the pole, not a pressure washer. The water rinses down the roof the same way rainwater does, into the conservatory gutter. A well-sealed conservatory should handle this without a drip inside.

Do I need to be home?

No, as long as we can reach the conservatory from outside. If there’s a gated side return, let us know on booking.

What if my conservatory has a tiled or solid roof?

A tiled conservatory roof is really a small extension roof, and we don’t usually clean those. Send us a photo with your enquiry and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s something we can clean from the ground.

Do you clean the inside of the conservatory roof?

No. The clean is external only. Inside-roof cleaning is a specialist job that often needs scaffolding, which we don’t offer.

Will you clean the conservatory windows and frames too?

Yes, if you book it as a one-off. If you’re already a regular window cleaning customer, your conservatory windows are part of the normal window clean so they don’t need adding on.

Can you clean a very yellow polycarbonate roof?

A soft-wash will lift biofilm, algae, and general dirt off polycarbonate. It won’t reverse UV yellowing, which is a permanent change to the plastic itself. In most cases cleaning still makes a noticeable difference to how much light gets through. We’ll tell you honestly if we don’t think cleaning will help before we start.

Will it damage plants underneath?

We keep run-off controlled and rinse with pure water. The product is biodegradable. If you’ve got sensitive plants or a pond, tell us on booking so we can plan around it.

Can I book a conservatory clean alongside my window cleaning?

Yes, and it’s discounted. Existing regular window cleaning customers get a discount when a conservatory roof clean is added to a visit.
