How payment works

Frog Window Cleaning collects all payments by GoCardless direct debit

You set up the direct debit as part of your online booking. After each clean has been done, the agreed amount is collected automatically from your bank account. You don’t need to be home, pay in cash, or send a bank transfer. There’s no subscription: you only pay per clean.

Why direct debit

Why we use GoCardless instead of cash or card

You don’t need to be home. The reach-and-wash system means we don’t need access to the house to clean the windows. GoCardless means we don’t need access to collect the payment either. The whole thing can happen while you’re at work, at the school gate, or on holiday.

You only pay after the clean. The direct debit is taken after we’ve done the work. If we haven’t cleaned, we don’t collect a payment. You’re never out of pocket for work that hasn’t happened.

It’s a lot cheaper than card payments. Card processing fees eat a meaningful chunk of a £28 clean. Direct debit costs a few pence per transaction, and that saving is what keeps the prices low.

Amount Changes Notified in Advance

If the amount, frequency, or date of your payment changes for any reason, you’re told in writing at least 10 working days before the payment is taken. No unexpected deductions.

Immediate Refunds for Errors

If a direct debit is taken in error, you’re entitled to a full and immediate refund from your bank. No arguing, no waiting.

Cancel Any Time

You can cancel the direct debit at any time by contacting your bank. Same protection that covers utility bills, mortgage payments, and insurance premiums across the UK.

Frequently asked questions about payment

When is the money actually collected?

Usually three to five working days after each clean. GoCardless submits the request the day of or the day after the clean, and your bank processes it in line with standard direct debit timings.

Can I cancel the direct debit if I want to stop?

Yes, at any time. Just let us know you’re stopping, and cancel the direct debit with your bank. We won’t take any further payments.

What if you don't clean on the scheduled date?

We don’t take a payment for a clean we haven’t done. If weather or a clash of dates means we skip you, you’ll only be charged when we next actually clean.

What if I want to skip a clean?

Message us before the scheduled date. We’ll skip you and no direct debit will be taken for that visit.

Can I pay annually up front instead?

Not through the normal booking flow. We run on per-clean collection to keep the numbers simple for everyone. For commercial customers on bespoke schedules, ring Mark and we can talk it through.

Is my bank information safe?

GoCardless is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. They handle payments for charities, subscription services, and thousands of small businesses across the UK. We never see or store your bank details ourselves.

What shows up on my bank statement?

‘Frog Window Cleaning Ltd’ (or a short version of it) will appear as the payer reference. If you ever see an entry you don’t recognise, ring Mark first before speaking to the bank and we’ll check what it’s for.

Can I pay by cash or card instead?

No. Keeping payment on a single direct debit system is what lets us hold prices fixed. Cash collection, card machines, and bank transfer chasing all add cost and unreliability.

I'm not comfortable with direct debit. Can you make an exception?

We’d rather explain the Direct Debit Guarantee than make exceptions. The protections on direct debit are the strongest of any UK payment method. If, having read the above, you still don’t want to use it, that’s fine, but it’s not a service we can offer without it. Ring Mark if you want to talk it through.
